Ouma Mamatela is a Breast Cancer councillor working at Helen Joseph Hospital, in Johannesburg. Her duties include education to the public and to give support to the newly diagnosed Breast Cancer patients.
She is a gentle soul and quotes: “It’s painful to see patients confused when they don’t have enough information after being diagnosed and they often just want to give up. : Ouma was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2015. She has completed all her treatment which included: Chemotherapy, Surgery and Radiotherapy. She is a survivor! “My story always gives the patients hope. My advice is I tell every man and woman I educate, to know their body’s normal and take action immediately if they suspect that something is wrong.”
