Jeanette Nkabinde joined the team in 2018 and is a community educator who ensures that breast cancer patients have a solid understanding about their diagnosis and their treatment. She provides them socio-psycho support as well. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013 at the age of 41 after she felt a lump on her right breast and went through all the necessary screening.
“It wasn’t an easy journey, but with the support and care I received from my family and friends I was able to stay strong. I’m a survivor and I’m still in remission.”
She advises to “love your body, self-examine your breasts and do regular check-ups with a healthcare professional. Early detection saved my life and there’s a life to live after being diagnosed”.
