Bosom Buddies provides emotional and informative support to women and men affected by breast cancer at the time of diagnosis, during treatment and beyond.
Bosom Buddies is run by volunteers, “Buddies”, who create a loving, warm and compassionate environment in which they support not only the breast cancer patients but also their spouses, partners, parents, children, siblings and friends.
Our Buddies guide and inform people diagnosed with breast cancer, and their loved ones, during challenging times in a number of different ways:
Hotline: People diagnosed with breast cancer, and their loved ones, are linked to a Buddie who provides support telephonically.
Public Meetings: Every six weeks or so a public meeting is held where people with breast cancer and their supporters connect with breast cancer survivors and listen to talks on issues related to breast cancer.
Other: We provide a number of ways for breast cancer patients and survivors to get involved and raise awareness of breast cancer. These include Walkathons, Spinathons, Golf Days and many other breast cancer related events.
Gone are the days when a person diagnosed with breast cancer felt the need to keep their disease hidden from society. What better way to cope with the experience than with the comfort of a Buddie?

There is something for everyone at Bosom Buddies and we would love to welcome you into our warm, friendly and understanding community.
You need not be a patient or a survivor to get involved. We welcome all breast cancer aware citizens of our rainbow nation to join us in our project. You can choose what you would like to be involved with:
1. Providing support to patients and/or their support system.
2. Business development: the marketing, promoting and branding side of Bosom Buddies.
3. Project management and administration functions of Bosom Buddies including strategy, design and implementation to office admin tasks.
If you would like to get involved with Bosom Buddies, please contact Louise Turner on +27 (0)76 479 0400.
